Down…but not Out!

He gave his whole lifetime for the independence of his motherland, and when it eventually happened, it turned out to be… a dream gone terribly sour!

Everywhere…there was chaos, factions, bloodshed, pettiness, sycophancy, arrogance and… what not! …With heavy heart and moist eyes, the father was forced to say “If this is the way it is supposed to be…then I wish I had not stood for it!”…

…………………

Well! The most murderous feeling in life is ‘helplessness’…! …When all you wanted to pursue was excellence, yet what you have ended up with is average-ness around… When the values that you had once sown have been uprooted clinically…and when the same people who had once partnered your dream have joined the conspiracy of its substandard-version!

All this leaves you with a sense of hopelessness…! A feeling that you are a failure…that you have succumbed to the ecosystem of mediocrity…that you are the odd-one-out in your own clan…a refugee in your own homeland!

You feel…Betrayed.

BUT THEN…you start getting the hang of it! You realize that this is exactly what the cynics of the world wanted! … To pull you down when they could not push themselves up…to make you feel ashamed of your own idealism because it wasn’t easy on them… to declare you a schizophrenic because they could not see the vision you saw!

And then…You smile…Promising yourself that even if the whole world is against you, still you would stand by your side…You might rest, or change the route…but you would not change ‘what you stand for’!

A dream might have gone sour…but not the eyes which saw it!

…………………

I am sure that if he had lived another day…Gandhi would have done the same!
