Food for thought…

“When was the last time you ate something forgetting everything else in the world…getting lost in its aroma…relishing its look…feeling its taste…just living it comprehensively?”

When I asked this question to the people of one of the growing food-chains of the city, all of them started sharing awkward glances…fidgeting and twitching in their chairs! Well! Certainly not a great way to start a training session…or is it?

One of them said “We eat quickly so that we can get back to work”, another said “I somehow steal time for it”, yet another said “I almost feel guilty when I stop my work to go for lunch”, and one ended up saying “there are many more important things waiting to be done”…!

With a wry smile, I looked at the manager…who seemed pretty clueless!

…Someone once told me about a Dhaabawala in some remote area who, before starting the day’s work, would first ask all his waiters to sit together in a row! Then, he would serve them food with his own hands, with warmth and compassion…insisting to have a little more… ‘thodaa saa chalegaa!’

His logic must have been simple…“They can only give…what they have”! So unless they conceive ‘satisfaction’, how would they deliver it!

Well! I’ve heard ‘City never sleeps’…! Obviously it can’t…unless it eats properly!
