The sweet-tooth behind barfi…

“Kites is as much my movie as Barfi is…”

was Anurag Basu’s answer to a tweet that said “Barfi proves Anurag did not direct Kites!”

………………..

They say, ‘If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans’…

Anurag was 29, Murder had just become a hit, he married his girl-friend, they were expecting a baby… and like a filmy anticlimax…he was diagnosed with Cancer! Doctors finally gave him only 2-weeks. Then he heard about Dr. Banawali at Tata Memorial…but…there was no bed left!

Sunil Dutt intervened and got him a bed; but not without great difficulty…He was straight away put on a ventilator and stayed unconscious in ICU for 15 days! When he returned…he was bald, frail, masked and ‘out of all the movies he had signed’…

But he lived on…to see the face of his daughter, and posters of his many brainchildren…!

Well! Only someone who has returned from the verge of the tunnel knows that beyond success and failure… there is a joy of ‘doing things’! The joy of dreaming big, making schedules, committing resources, meeting deadlines, celebrating milestones and…living with an illusion of infiniteness!

That silly joy…which helps us wake-up every morning with a sense of Hope!

……………….

Someone asked Anurag Basu “Were you depressed after Kites flopped?”

… Anurag Basu laughed for next two minutes!
