Pebbles & Gems!

“I liked this boy! He is blunt but honest…raw but real!” was my feedback as I left the interview room.

………………………

Over the years, I have seen so many people who care genuinely, get things done and push for better; yet are often interpreted to be bad just because…they lose balance! Then there are people who just get along, pass by and hang around; and are still interpreted as good because…they don’t lose it!

World of humans operates at a superficial level. We have a clear preference for behavior over attitude. That’s why a ‘nice word’ passes off as a ‘good deed’! Sadly, in a society where managing perceptions has become more important than intentions and ‘image’ has outplayed ‘substance’, we have made it difficult for genuineness to survive. And then…we complain about the shortage.

You may ask, why not both? Why can’t we have people who are genuine as well as balanced? Well! Ideally, it is the best combo! But the problem is that, with exceptions of some really evolved beings, “Genuine people can stay balanced only when they are slightly detached” (what Krishn says to Arjun in Geeta)! So, it is about paying the price – either ‘attachment’ or ‘balance’!

Well! I normally let people lose balance…not attachment! You have to make a tradeoff!!

………………………

Scratch the surface! Or you may end up counting on pebbles…and losing out on gems!

PS: While allowing people to lose balance, remember ‘Consideration is only for worthy 🙂 ‘
